Tokyo DisneySea

The ride to Disney each day entailed 3 trains and took about 45 minutes total. It wasn’t that bad, but getting up the second day to go was a bit hard because we were exhausted. Don’t think that we didn’t put in 12 hour days though…

DisneySea is a unique park. Think Epcot but on a much larger and more impressive scale (and, in Mike’s opinion, not as boring). It’s centered around Mediterranean Harbor which takes its cue from Italy:

Extremely Realistic.

We were very impressed by the size and thought put into this park. Every land was based around different bodies of water (including Cape Cod, New York Harbor, and Ariel’s Mermaid Lagoon).

The oddest thing we noticed over the two days was the presence of a certain teddy bear. EVERYONE had them. His name is Duffy, and he is the official Disney teddy bear. (FYI: he has a girlfriend named Shelly Mae…we think).

Duffy Will Cost You $45.

The Toddler Had to Walk.

The Duffster (Not Hilary Nor Ugly Haylie).

The Perfect Picture to Describe Tokyo Disney.

One of the highlights of the day was the afternoon water parade. Basically Chip ‘n’ Dale and Goofy drove boats around the harbor and sprayed the crowd with hoses. Disney employees stood on land and squirted the crowd as well. One enthusiastic employee had a full-scale fire hose and powerfully deluged the crowd…like, full-on hosing the audience. They loved it…we couldn’t stop laughing.

Here are some more pictures from the day:

Mount Prometheus Overlooking the Harbor.

Hot as Hell. The Free Fans Were Desperately Needed.

People Really Like to Carry Around Disney Crap.

Speechless. They All Had Big Minnie Hairbows Too.

Awkward Picture of Hanna and Prince Eric.

Mediterranean Harbor.

While it was a bit expensive and some of the hottest/humid weather we have experienced, we are really glad we went. We felt like we really learned a lot about Japanese leisure time.

  1. Glad you decided to go even with the heat…makes me want to see DisneySea especially of the two.

  2. I’m so glad you guys went. The model of Disney Sea we saw a few years ago in Orlando was impressive, so I can only imagine how great the real thing was. With all the of the Disney crap EVERYONE was wearing, Disney must make so much money from these parks.

  3. i love everything about this post. also, is that prince eric a real person or a mannequin?

  4. I checked the old Disney autograph book… “Prince Eric” looks surprisingly like “Peter Pan” from the picture we have with Pat. (Different “hair”, of course…)

  5. Shannon and Kelly

I guess that is one less day of vacation to buy your favorite nieces each a Duffy! Actually 2 less days since you can’t bring Duffy back without his girlfriend!
